Institute Presentation
The Departments of Endocrinology, Chemical Endocrinology, General Internal Medicine and Nuclear Medicine of the Radboud University Medical Centre serve as a multidisciplinary tertiary referral centre for adrenal tumour patients in the Netherlands (‘Radboud Adrenal Centre’). The departments are devoted to clinical and translational research in de the field of adrenal disease, using its numerous local, national and international collaborations. The departments host a clinical study centre, including full anatomical and functional imaging facilities, and basic science labs in the area of chemical endocrinology and molecular imaging. The participants in the projects have expertise in clinical and genetic aspects of phaeochromocytoma and paraganglioma (Dr. Timmers, Prof. Hermus, Prof. Lenders), functional imaging of endocrine tumours (Prof. Gotthardt, Dr. Timmers) and catecholamine metabolisme (Prof. Lenders, Prof. Sweep, Dr. Timmers). Dr. Timmers is co-chair of the international ‘Phaeochromocytoma and Paraganglioma Research Support Organization’ (
www.pressor.org).
Radboud University Nijmegen will participate as a collaborator in
WP6. The main tasks of RUNMC within the project will consist of the evaluation of functional imaging as a tool to predict tumour response to treatment in adrenal cancers.
